The advantages of the effect sand

When it comes to sand effect, is generally defined as that type of decoration for the walls obtained by coating a water-based special additives and synthetic resins. The purpose of this type of effect is to confer on the walls of our house that typical effect 'rustic' very distinctive and appreciated not only for its taste a bit 'old-world, rustic indeed, but mostly because it is an effect that helps to mask very well any imperfections that may occur at the stage of painting. Furthermore the advantage of painting sand effect lies in the fact that the surface on which we are to act, be it a single wall or the entire apartment, must not necessarily be 'perfect', the preparation should not be faulted and therefore the preparatory work does not have to be meticulous, since the effect 'imperfect' will absolutely wanted. For the same reasons, this type of painting ensures high wear resistance due to its elasticity and ability to grip. But let's see how to realize the effect of sand.

How to proceed

Once protected walls and baseboards with plastic sheeting and tape paper, and after cleaning the wall and having made it big so smooth, you can begin. Of course you need to get everything you need: a painting called 'wind-sand', its background, the specific dye and Spalter, the brush flat and wide from long bristles. Everything needed for the operation is easy to find in all the paint, hardware and DIY stores. The cost of painting is about 60 Euros for a three-liter jar, but with one box you can cover an area of ​​about 25 square meters. Start with the spreading the paint in the background, that is our base. We can proceed with the roller if the surface is very wide, but in the corners and edges need to use the brush. Because the wall is prepared properly you need to pass both hands in the background. Drying times between the one and the other hand will be about 12 hours. After the substrate and after 24 hours it is now possible to prepare our color: pour into the bucket provided the dye chosen for the painting of the wall: if the small jar should remain some traces of light, you can add a bit 'of water in order not to go to waste the product. 

Once emptied the jar of dye in full, it's time to mix, if the quantities are very large, you can proceed with a special drill mixing, but alternatively will do a nice long stick that will allow us to get to the bottom of jar. Obtained as a homogeneous color, proceed with the painting: before starting from the corners of the surface that we want to paint and then devote the entire wall. The technique allows us to get blasted two different effects: we can proceed with a roller or brush, to have a homogeneous coating effect and more traditional, or for a different effect, again, we can give the coats of paint to the 'bulk' that is crossing movements of the arms in order to obtain an effect over that sandblasted is also pleasantly gradient and so that emphasizes the natural inaccuracy of sanding. After the brush strokes in bulk, you need to go with the clean spalter just put on the painting, so as to more evenly distribute the sand and 'pull' the color to get the nuances very natural. Since we have completed the painting will have to spend about two hours, because the wall in question is dry.
